Comfort Matters is a dementia care education and research program dedicated to improving the quality of care and life for people with dementia.

OUR FOUNDER

Beatitudes Campus, Founded in 1965, Beatitudes Campus (www.beatitudescampus.org) is a faith-based not-for-profit Life Plan Community in Phoenix, Arizona that offers a wide spectrum of services for older people including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory support and home care services. The campus, which serves more than 700 people, supports a model of wellness that promotes soundness of mind, spirit and body. To improve quality of life and quality of care for people with dementia, Beatitudes Campus launched Comfort Matters, dementia care education in 2005.

Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona (www.hov.org) – Hospice of the Valley, founded in 1977, is a leading nonprofit provider of compassionate end-of-life care and a valued partner with Beatitudes Campus in advancing dementia care research and education.

BHHS Legacy Foundation, Phoenix, Arizona (www.bhhslegacy.org) – Generous support from BHHS Legacy Foundation helped make Comfort Matters a reality. Established in 2001, the Foundation is a charitable nonprofit that provides funding to other nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that support long-term systemic change in healthcare.

Stead Family Foundation, Scottsdale, Arizona – Generous financial support from Jerre and Mary Joy Stead through their family foundation helped the development of Comfort Matters Dementia Care Education.  Strongly committed to people with dementia and their families, Comfort Matters is just one project of many that the Stead Family supports in this important area of health care.
